The Power of Gratitude

People tend to slip into the habit of going through life with tunnel vision, where the small things that we should be grateful for tends to go unnoticed. Regular practice of gratitude grants you with more positive emotions, feeling more alive, better sleep, expressing compassion and kindness and can even boost your immune system.

And it doesn’t need to be saved for all those special, momentous occasions. Your gratitude can range from “finally my house is ready to live in” to “this apple pie tastes so dang delicious”.

So this month we are going to be practicing gratitude for our wellbeing program, and exploring whether it affects our lifestyles. According to research (just to name a few), gratitude:

  • Makes us happier
  • Increases spiritualism
  • Strengthens our emotions
  • Improves your sleep
  • Helps us relax

Our challenge this month is to share daily messages of gratefulness with each other. Not doing so results in a donation to our kitty that goes to a charity of choice at the end of the year.

“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough” – Oprah Winfrey
